Heal the patients not just treat- Dr. D. VeerendraHeggade
The Graduation day was celebrated on 11th May 2019in the institution campus. The program was presided by Dr. D VeerendraHeggade, President, SDMES, Ujire. The guest for the program was Vd. Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Govt. of India, Ministry of Ayush, New Delhi and the degrees were awarded by Dr. S. Sacchidanand, Honourable Vice Chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore. The other dignitaries present were Dr. Gurdip Singh, Director, Post Graduate Studies, SDMCAH, Hassan, Dr. Yashovarma B, Secretary, SDMES, Ujire, Dr.Ravishankar B, Former Director, SDMCRAAS, Udupi, Principals of SDM Ayurveda collegesand others.
Guruvandana was performed to Dr. D VeerendraHeggade, and in his address to the fresh graduates he said that the doctors should heal the patients and not just treat and by healing the soul the body is also healed. In his graduation address, Vd. Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Govt. of India, Ministry of AYUSH, New Delhi stressed upon the graduates to have a goal and commitment and to achieve it, one should work with attention. He also spoke on the various schemes and opportunities provided by Ministry of AYUSH to the Indian system of medicine and also stressed on taking up interdisciplinary research.
Dr. S. Sacchidanand, Honourable Vice Chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore emphasized on having gratitude towards parents, teachers and visionaries. He spoke on the Ten Commandments that a doctor should follow and directed the budding Ayurveda physicians to give a sympathetic ear to the feelings of the patients and also said that all graduates to be attached to their Alma mater.
Dr. Prasanna N Rao, Principal, S D M College of Ayurveda, Hassan, congratulated the rank holders and fresh graduates for grabbing majority of University ranks and for their achievements in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
