Inauguration of Geriatric Out Patient Department
A special outpatient department for the treatment of senior citizens was started at Teaching Hospital of the institute on 10th Feb 2024. It was inaugurated by Dr. D Veerendra Heggade, President, SDM Educational Society, Ujire.
Ashtanga Ayurveda is one of the eight special sections of Ayurveda, and there is a division called Jara treatment, which deals with special treatment for diseases that occur during old age. Generally, in old age, many types of physical and mental weaknesses are naturally seen, along with these, there is a possibility of deterioration of body due to age. For the treatment of these, one of the Ashtangas of Ayurveda, the Jara treatment section has given many rasayana (rejuvenate) medicines that strengthen the immunity in the human body.
By taking the rasayana medicines mentioned in this type of treatment not just the physical health but also the mental health is improved, stress is relieved and sleep will also be improved. The management of the hospital has requested the public to take advantage of the jara treatment Outpatient Department with all the facilities. In the inaugural program Dr. Prasanna Narasimha Rao, Principal of the institute, Dr. Shailaja U, Vice Principal, Dr. Muralidhara P Pujara, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Gopikrishna B J, Head of Surgery Department, Dr. Pretty P, Dr. Chandrika Urs, Dr. Meghana K, consultants for Geriatrics OPD & Dr. Bahubali TS, RMO were present.
