Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Ayurveda & Hospital, Hassan, through the Department of Samhita & Siddhanta and Samskruta Sanghatana, celebrated Charaka Jayanti and World Sanskrit Day 2026 through a vibrant month-long series of academic, literary, cultural and outreach activities aimed at making Sanskrit an active instrument for understanding Ayurveda. The celebrations brought together the Abhinava classroom series, Samskruta Ayurveda Lahari 2026, Sanskrit workshops, Charaka Samhita Parayana, creative competitions, textual analysis and cultural programmes. The Samskruta Ayurveda Lahari 2026 witnessed enthusiastic participation with 135 teams and 484 entries across diverse events including Lalitha Lekhana, Rahasya Parikrama, Shabdajala, Shabdabindu Pravaha, Mookabhinaya Kreeda, Smaranam, Shloka Kathanam, Chitrapata Rachana, Chayagrahanam and Hasya Vignapanam. The Charaka Jayanti celebrations featured Charaka Samhita Parayana of the Deerghanjeeviteeya Adhyaya, the launch of “Chota Charaka” and academic workshop sessions, while the World Sanskrit Day celebrations included student performances, presentation of the Samskruta Ayurveda Lahari report, prize distribution and experience sharing by UG students and PG scholars. The month-long initiative reaffirmed the enduring connection between Sanskrit, Ayurveda, scholarship and clinical understanding, highlighting that Sanskrit is not merely a language to be studied, but a key to reading, understanding and living the wisdom of Ayurveda.
