Awareness program on significance of Breast feeding

The World Health Organization has declared the first week of August as “World Breastfeeding Week” to inform and raise awareness among the masses about the importance of breast milk. Thus on the occasion of World breast feeding week, an awareness program was held in the institute on 4th August 2024 where lactating mothers were sensitized about the significance of breast feeding. Dr. Shailaja U, Professor & HoD, Dept. of Kaumarabhritya (Ayurveda Pediatrics), Dr. Gayathri Bhat NV, Professor & HoD, Dept. of Prasuti Tantra & Streeroga (Obstetrics and Gynecology), Dr. Vijayalakshmi M, Associate Professor, Dr. Nayan Kumar, Associate Professor, Dept. of Kaumarabhritya (Ayurveda Pediatrics) gave talks on the importance of breastfeeding and said that the best scientific and cost-effective way to improve the health and survival of young children is to exclusively breastfeed for the first six months.

Awareness programs were also held at Korvangala and Alur Taluk, Hassan District on 5th Aug 2024 where Dr. Shailaja U, Professor & HoD, Dept. of Kaumarabhritya and Dr. Nayan Kumar, Associate Professor, Dept. of Kaumarabhritya (Ayurveda Pediatrics) gave talks to lactating mothers of those regions.
